Le terme "phishing" pourrait se traduire par "hameçonnage". Le phishing désigne l’ensemble des arnaques basées sur une usurpation d’identité. Le but étant de récupérer mots de passe, identifiants, codes d’accès ou numéro de carte bancaire et autres informations confidentielles. Le terme "phishing" est un néologisme issu de la contraction de "fishing" (qui signifie "pêche" en anglais) et de "phreaking" (terme désignant le piratage des lignes téléphoniques). Cette technique utilise un spam "hameçon", à savoir un courriel non sollicité qui semble officiel (technique du spoofing) et qui incite l’internaute à cliquer sur un lien conduisant vers un faux site web qui est une copie conforme du vrai site, par exemple une copie conforme du site de votre banque. En 2006 apparaît le vishing, qui est le phishing destiné à la téléphonie sur IP (internet protocol). -

(wireless fidelity)Lancée en 2001, la WiFi (wireless fidelity) est une technologie sans fil utilisant les ondes radio pour l’accès à l’internet sur une portée de quelques dizaines de mètres. Plus précisément, la WiFi a pour but de relayer une connexion internet (fournie par le DSL/ADSL, le câble, le satellite, etc.) à un réseau local sans fil en utilisant le standard 802.11, une norme internationale de transmission radio-électrique établie par l’IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). Un point public de connexion (appelé hotspot) relaie ces fréquences pour permettre aux usagers de se connecter sans fil à l’internet dans un rayon géographique limité. En 2002, cette technologie vise d’abord les ordinateurs portables. La carte WiFi, d’abord externe, est peu à peu intégrée aux nouvelles machines (50% des ordinateurs portables à la fin 2003). Cette technologie est ensuite utilisable par les assistants personnels (PDA) début 2003, puis par les téléphones portables à la fin 2003. Le nombre d’utilisateurs mondiaux, qui est de 9,3 millions en 2003, est multiplié par trois en 2004, grâce à l’augmentation des hotspots. A partir de 2004, selon les besoins, la WiFi peut être secondée ou remplacée par la WiMAX (worldwide interoperability for microwave access), qui offre des services similaires sur une portée de quelques dizaines de kilomètres.
